Everton fans are all saying the same thing about Idrissa Gana Gueye after 1-1 draw vs Arsenal

Everton played out a 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon at Goodison Park.

The Toffees bounced back from their 1-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool to claim a respectable point at Goodison Park.

Iliman Ndiaye’s spotkick cancelled out Leandro Trossard’s opener, however, it wasn’t without some controversy.

Mike Dean labelled Everton’s penalty as soft, claiming that there was very little contact inside the box on Jack Harrison.

Anyhow, a point was probably a fair result on the balance of play, with very little quality coming from either side.

Though, one Everton star stuck out more than any other, with fans voting him Man of the Match.

Everton fans convinced Idrissa Gana Gueye was MOTM vs Arsenal

Replying to the post below, Everton fans awarded Idrissa Gana Gueye with the Man of the Match award against Arsenal.

“Gana. You can blame him for the header that led to Arsenal’s goal but he had no right to go for that,” @JimmyCarty65 replied.

“Gana by a mile,” @Quiggers_03 said.

@IanG1878 commented: “Pickford or Gueye – he was absolutely everywhere.”

@Dullard_is_Back added: “Thought Idrissa Gana Gueye was exceptional today as he’s been for most of the season.”

“I think it’s a bit insulting that they are waiting till the end of the season to decide whether to offer Gana Gueye a new deal. Best player on the pitch again yesterday and our midfield would be non-existent without him,” @danny1878c posted.

@Gwladystreats said: “Gana Gueye. That’s all.”

Everton should offer Gueye new contract

Gueye’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and as it stands, he is set to become a free agent.

When asked about whether the veteran midfielder will get a one-year deal, Moyes admitted that no contract talks will take place until the club are mathematically safe.

“What I do know about him is, I’ve only been here a couple of months to work with him and I think he’s been terrific in the games.

“He plays younger than what he is at times, in many ways. He’s someone who’s played well for us, he really has. I understand how well he’s done.

“We just need to keep going. We won’t be making any decisions on contracts until we’re mathematically safe so, we’ll have a look at all that when he get to that point.”

Everton are now 15 points clear of the bottom three, so surely talks will start to commence in the next couple of weeks.
