Everton started their performance strongly against Manchester City, but the first-half display from Beto left many frustrated.

The Portuguese striker had multiple chances to put the Toffees ahead, but the ball would not hit the back of the net.

One of the biggest moments of the half came in the thirteenth minute, when Beto was unable to get a solid connection on a cross from Ndiaye.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was nowhere to be seen, and it was an open net for the striker.

Later on in the half, the forward would miss another great chance as his shot inside the box dragged wide. The linesman had his flag up, but replays suggested he may have been onside.

The two situations frustrated fans, who took to social media to express their opinions; they are saying the same thing.

Everton fans react to Beto’s missed opportunities

The Beto misses were one of the biggest talking points among Everton fans during the opening 45, and many were left in disbelief they did not go 1-0 up.

After the first missed chance, one fan said, “Beto HAS to finish that.”

With another stating, “Inexcusable from Beto there. Have to score that one.”

One Everton fan said, “No excuse for that from Beto.”

Meanwhile, someone else said, “It’s quite impressive Beto and Barry manage to miss a sitter every single week, guaranteed.”

Beto has been a figure of frustration around Hill Dickinson recently, and that prompted one supporter to say, “Beto might be one of the worst strikers in Premier League history.”

All in all, Everton fans agreed that Beto should have done much better with his first-half chances, and it was not just the fans who believed so.

Pat Nevin says that miss will keep Beto up at night

Over on BBC radio, former Everton player Pat Nevin also reacted to the miss and believes the Everton man will be thinking about it for quite some time.

Nevin said, “When you get the ball in there between the keeper and the centre backs, as a centre forward, you’d wake up during the night thinking about that one. Take a chance and get in there.”

It was certainly a huge chance for David Moyes’ side to go 1-0 up after a resilient defensive performance in the first half.
