The move from Goodison Park to the Hill Dickinson Stadium was emotional for Everton supporters.
But, to progress forward as a football club, it simply had to be done. The Hill Dickinson Stadium generates an extra £40m-a-year in revenue.
That’s ultimately going to help bring more success on the pitch, as David Moyes will have bigger transfer budgets to spend.
But, at the moment, the Toffees have found it difficult to transition to the new stadium, as the home form has been poor this season.
With that said, we decided to ask our TalkingPoints and Facebook users which ground they prefer: the Hill Dickinson Stadium or Goodison Park.
Which do you prefer? 😬

Most Everton fans prefer Goodison Park over Hill Dickinson Stadium
After hearing from Everton supporters, it’s pretty clear that most fans miss Goodison Park and prefer the Grand Old Lady to the new 52,000-seater.
Below are some of the replies on TalkingPoints; there were a couple who admitted they prefer the Hill Dickinson.
- “No contest. Will only ever be Goodison, we’ll never be able to match that atmosphere.”
- “Goodison always. Great times. Good and bad, but would love to be back there. New era now, just got to go with the flow. Everyone must feel the same. UTFT.”
- “Goodison will never be beaten. Too many memories in there, it’s not the same going to the match anymore.”
- “Will always be Goodison for me. The closeness of family and friends around and after all, we are known as the People’s (family) club.”
- “Goodison for dispersal time and nostalgia, HD for everything else. People put a downer on HD because they’ve never had a Saturday 3pm KO in nice weather. Majority of games have been late ones over this miserable winter.”
- “Goodison for me, although the HD is a stunning ground apart from the toilets and queues for food and drinks.”
- “Hill Dickinson. Time to move on. Goodison still remains in our hearts.”
- “Goodison. Bramley Moore still doesn’t feel like our ‘home’ to me yet.”
- “Goodison, it’s not even a debate. The new stadium is amazing, but it needs work as the years go by to make it more Everton.”
As referenced by one of the comments above, perhaps the experience at Hill Dickinson will improve as we head into the spring.
There haven’t been too many sunny days at the new ground, and that may be a small contributing factor to some of the answers above.
But, ultimately, it’s always going to be difficult to replicate that feeling Goodison created. Many supporters grew close to those who sat around them over the years, and it made for a family-like atmosphere.
It was more than just a stadium, but time moves on, and there are exciting times on the horizon at the Hill Dickinson.
