Jamie Vardy has just announced that he will be leaving Leicester City after 13 years at the club.

Leicester’s Premier League relegation was confirmed on the weekend, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

And, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Jamie Vardy has now announced that these will be his final five games in a Leicester shirt, ending a truly extraordinary career with the Foxes.

Vardy made it clear that he has no plans to retire, so that’s caused speculation around who his next club will be.

Everton fans have been reacting to the news and decided on if David Moyes should offer Vardy the chance to join this summer transfer window.

Everton fans decide against signing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy

Everton fans have been reacting to the post below and they’re all in agreement that signing Vardy, at this stage of his career, isn’t the right move.

“Vardy should have been the one to replace Lukaku. Too late in the day now,” @StevenGuinness commented.

@EvertonF1878_ added: “Not a chance. He was finished about 3 years ago.”

“He’s had a great career but he’s 38 now. Come on,” @Tonyyates1878 said.

@samcooper24896 posted: “He can enjoy retirement alongside Young and Coleman IMO.”

“Absolutely not haha,” @CombatsCasual said.

@de8n_EFC commented: “Can’t believe so far 90 people have clicked yes.”

Everton supporters have voted resoundingly against signing Vardy, who turned 38 in January.

The Friedkin Group have a different recruitment strategy

Vardy no longer fits the criteria for an Everton signing, as the Friedkin Group are aiming to sign much younger players this summer.

Moyes’ squad is the third oldest in the Premier League, so clearly there needs to be a shift in the recruitment policy.

Already, it’s clear Everton are drawing up a list of talented youngsters, as Moyes has his eye on Sunderland teenager Chris Rigg and Burnley’s young defender Maxime Esteve.

Young left-back Victor Kristiansen is also being eyed by Everton bosses after his relegation with Leicester.
