Everton finally got back into the win column on Sunday afternoon as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Goodison Park.
Everton enjoyed a sensational first half as they raced into a three-goal lead and it perhaps could’ve been four or five.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin impressed and ended his goalless draught whilst many Everton fans thought Jesper Lindstrom was the Man of the Match.
Victory for David Moyes’ side leaves them with a bit of breathing room on the relegation zone, as they now sit four points above 18th-placed Ipswich Town.

Jake O’Brien was also a talking point as he made his first Premier League start of the season and now fans have been reacting to his performance.

Everton fans can’t understand why Jake O’Brien wasn’t starting under Sean Dyche
After the Tottenham victory, Everton fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to heap praise on Jake O’Brien and many couldn’t believe he wasn’t getting a look in under Sean Dyche.
@EllBretland posted: “I always moaned that Dyche wasn’t only just costing Everton points but harming assets for the future. Jake O’Brien is a good defender. He was when he arrived at the club and remained so while a manager froze him out.”
@1BearTruth added: “Just want to say I thought O’Brien had a great game today!! Bet he’s thinking after that performance it’s dirt kicked in Dyche’s eye! Lindstrom also had a great game today!! Hopefully this momentum is carried on now!”
@cal_ycfc_efc said: “Dyche said we couldn’t play progressive football and didn’t want a bar of Jake O’Brien…”
@taylor_davies77 commented: “Jake O’Brien btw, fair play lad, hasn’t had a real chance whatsoever all season, put the graft in behind the scenes and fully took his chance today. Tough ask to play out of position and he genuinely didn’t look out of place. Was glad we bought him, hopefully more to come!”
“Jake O’Brien appreciation post. Lad played brilliantly today in a position that I couldn’t define even after watching it,” @ianspeny said.
“Wasn’t sure when seeing Jake O’Brien starting right back, but he was really good.. nice understanding with Lindstrom to work on,” @Neilo_m added.
David Moyes impressed by O’Brien’s performance
Moyes was very complimentary of O’Brien’s display against Tottenham, too, and noted his inclusion was to help the team build out from the back better.
“We wanted to have a look at Jake (O’Brien),” Moyes told Everton TV.
“We’ve not really had a chance to see him. The strongest point of the team has always been defensively but I thought Jake would maybe give us a chance to build a little bit better when we’ve got the ball – which might free us up a little bit if we can work it.
“I think for long periods he did quite well. For Jake, it was about getting as much of the 90 minutes as we could out of him because he’s not played so much but I thought he came through quite well and did a lot of things.”
It seems O’Brien has the chance to become a regular fixture under Moyes, though, he’ll have to adapt to his new role at right-back.
