Everton are heading into the Chelsea clash this weekend full of confidence after their 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

David Moyes’ side are looking like genuine European challengers at the moment, as they’ve hit a hot streak of form.

Everton have won four out of their last five Premier League games and are actually projected to get 60 points come May, based on their points per game record.

Although, the Opta supercomputer reckons Chelsea will beat the Toffees on Saturday, and Peter Crouch also agrees with that prediction.

Ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge, Toffees supporters have been debating whether Idrissa Gana Gueye should start after serving his three-match suspension.

Everton fans reckon Idrissa Gana Gueye should be benched vs Chelsea

Gueye swiped at his own teammate Michael Keane during the Manchester United win last month, and he received a straight red card as a result.

The situation has been resolved, as Gueye and Keane were pictured laughing together at Finch Farm days later.

The veteran midfielder is now back and available for selection against Chelsea on Saturday, although these Everton fans don’t think he should come straight back into the starting line-up when asked for their thoughts on X.

“No, don’t change a winning side, look more dynamic going forward and to upset that rhythm right now would be the wrong choice,” @amacintosh5 admitted.

“Leave him out it’ll teach him not to be so stupid next time,” @TerryCoghlan1 added.

@scouseboy27 explained: “No needs to be used second half if we’re winning to help keep the lead.”

“No if it’s not broke don’t fix it especially not for 1 game,” @rmcq_1878 noted, referencing the fact that this will be Gueye’s last game before leaving for AFCON.

@rwl140172 had a contrasting view: “Think actually against Chelsea he may be needed to give more spine to the team.”

@maxwell_st95504 also thinks Gueye should start: “Yes alongside kdh, with Garner at rb, Alcaraz behind Barry.”

Idrissa Gana Gueye’s ball-winning ability may be needed vs Chelsea

It’s easy to see the argument that Gueye should be kept out of the starting line-up, considering the Toffees have won two on the bounce without him.

However, they were against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, who with all due respect, aren’t on Chelsea’s level, or even close, really.

Everton will be without the ball for large portions of the Chelsea game, so Gueye’s ball-winning ability will definitely be needed.

Plus, it’s the last time Moyes will even have Gueye available for a while, so it would be wise to play him while they can.
