Anthony Gordon hasn’t had the best of recent memories at Everton after missing a penalty against Jordan Pickford less than a month ago.
The way that Anthony Gordon handled his Everton exit is what really annoyed supporters at Goodison Park.
He refused to train and asked not to play against West Ham under Frank Lampard, which wasn’t the smartest of decisions considering all the club did for him.
Gordon received a bad reception at Goodison Park recently and his penalty miss made things even better, though it did trigger a post from Everton after the game.
Carragher reacted to Everton’s video mocking Gordon for missing his penalty by writing: ‘Local lad who came through your academy, helped keep you up under Lampard, wanted out because the club was a shambles on & off the pitch & who you then sold for 40M. The Peoples Club!’
Now, Everton fans have taken to X to react to news that Anthony Gordon has put pen to paper on a new deal at Newcastle United.

There’s no doubting Anthony Gordon is a top talent, but how he’s conducted himself is the main issue.
Interestingly, he told his teammates at Newcastle that he was joining Liverpool (as per Mirror) in the summer, only to now sign a new deal at St James’ Park after it didn’t work out.
After signing his new long-term deal at Newcastle United, here’s what he had to say in a post on X.
“I just think the club’s in a great place. Since the takeover it’s just been up and up. Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play. I love it here.
“I’m very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me – and I’m here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy. Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine.
“We (my family and I) have always felt settled because Geordies are so easy-going and so welcoming, very easy to speak to and always want the best for you. It’s a very easy place to come and live, I think. I feel very connected to everyone – teammates, fans and everyone involved.”
