Everton fans take anti-Premier League protest to bizarre new level before Forest

Everton fans have been resolute in the defending of their club, despite the persisting failures that refuse to dissipate.

This is a fanbase that continues to be downtrodden and mistreated, made to look foolish by their owners, the players and now the Premier League.

And yet, their support is unwavering, and the Toffees maintain a staunch backing wherever they go.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise to see such solidarity showcased in their continued protests against the division which deducted them ten points over two weeks ago now.

Their clash with Manchester United marked an ample opportunity to showcase their displeasure, which they did through a number of measures.

Then, during Saturday’s win at Nottingham Forest, again the travelling fans did their bit to maintain momentum.

However, it was after that game which saw one of the more bizarre protests, with the supporters coaches all lighting up to display the message ‘Premier League Corrupt’.

Whilst the sentiment is appreciated, the effectiveness of such a stunt is certainly questionable. At the very least it offered a light chuckle to those online, and likely the many who passed by on their walk out the City Ground.

How have Everton protested their ten-point deduction?

As aforementioned, a number of plans have been devised to vocalise their frustration with the Premier League’s ruling.

The strength of the fanbase was no better exemplified than in the near-£40k that one fan-led fundraiser amassed, all of which was to be put towards messages fighting their perceived injustice.

A large chunk of that went on the plane they chartered to fly over Liverpool’s game with Manchester City, although Sky Sports opted against showing the message which implied corruption.

Then, they would use further funds to purchase tens of thousands of pieces of card, with the bright pink signage providing the perfect visible conditions for another corruption message to be spread in the stands.

Other classic ideas like new banners and chants were put into place as well, with few comparing in hilarity to the Everton buses from Saturday lighting up in support.
