Everton returned to action on Tuesday night with their first friendly of the summer against Accrington Stanley.

David Moyes has welcomed three signings through the door, but it was only Carlos Alcaraz who was on display at the Wham Stadium.

The Everton fans may have had to brave the weather, but there will have been an excitement to see their players back in action.

With three signings confirmed already, Moyes is now demanding another four to six signings from the Friedkins ahead of the 2025/26 campaign starting.

On Tuesday evening, fans were unable to see any of the new faces, but they were able to welcome back Alcaraz, who signed permanently last month.

However, there was one player in Harrison Armstrong who fans were quick to share their thoughts on following his display.

Everton fans react to Harrison Armstrong’s display vs Accrington Stanley

Armstrong has impressed Moyes in pre-season training already during their time north of the border up in Scotland.

It remains to be seen whether Armstrong will be part of the squad when the season begins, but he is clearly doing all he can.

Having watched him in action against Accrington Stanley, a lot of Everton fans liked what they saw from the young midfielder.

One fan kept it very simple, they said: ‘Harrison Armstrong, I am sold. He is #good.’ Whilst another added: ‘Harrison Armstrong is so good. Easily been our best player so far in this friendly.’

Armstrong was working hard on his fitness prior to the official pre-season efforts beginning at Finch Farm.

Another fan felt Armstrong offered something they hadn’t seen in a long time, saying: ‘So much to like about Harrison Armstrong, he’s a proper throwback of a midfielder.’ The sentiment remained the same, as another fan said: ‘Impressed with Harrison Armstrong in that half..good game to watch!’

Fans want to see Armstrong remain in the squad for the new season, one said: ‘Harrison Armstrong needs to stay with the first team very tidy player even better after a full season with Moyes if he doesn’t go on loan.’

‘Harrison Armstrong had better be staying this season. He is ready for Premier League I think,’ another fan said.

Armstrong is out to earn his Everton future

Having returned from his loan with Derby County, Moyes opened the door for Armstrong to showcase his talent.

Of course, it is still very early on in the summer, and there could be plenty of twists and turns still to come.

Everton are looking to sign new midfielders despite Idrissa Gana Gueye committing his future to the Toffees.

What this means for Armstrong remains up for debate, but it is apparent he could not be doing much more to fight his case.
