Everton are now on the verge of securing Mark Travers as their third signing of the summer.

David Moyes will be well aware that an awful lot is still needed in the market, with both quality and quantity required to boost this squad.

Travers has landed at Everton for his medical, and a deal is expected to be completed soon.

But this is not a transfer that is expected to boost the starting XI on Merseyside, with Jordan Pickford’s spot between the sticks not at threat.

It has not been a straightforward summer window as Everton have faced a lot of competition for their summer targets.

The Friedkin Group’s AS Roma have even provided Everton competition for players this summer.

And it seems one of their joint targets has now made up his mind over which club he would like to join in the coming weeks.

Wesley Franca decides between Everton and Roma move

Everton have shown an interest in Wesley Franca, but it is a deal which has caused some controversy.

It is suggested a move to Everton would then see the right-back immediately loaned out to Roma.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Wesley is only interested in a move to the Italian capital this summer.

Zenit have made their own move for the Brazilian, but he is adamant on making the move to Roma in the coming weeks.

Roma have put forward a €22m (£19m) offer, but Flamengo have turned this down as they are demanding €25m (£21m).

Everton are looking to add new full-backs this summer, with Moyes making it an area for improvement since he took on the job back in January.

But it looks as if any move for Wesley this summer will have to be forgotten.

Everton’s full-back situation needs improving

Tuesday’s friendly against Accrington Stanley is going to highlight the need for Everton to improve their options at full-back.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is Everton’s only senior left-back currently at the club, and Jake O’Brien has played out of position at right-back last season.

Additions are needed not just to provide these players with relief from playing every game, but also to push them for the starting spots.

Moyes was so impressed by O’Brien, but the Ireland international does have his limits on the attacking side of the position.

It really is an area which Everton are going to have to improve.
