Everton are heading for a big summer – and there’s one player who could sign for David Moyes having been something of a thorn in his side over the years.
It’s been a brilliant 2025 so far, with the club enjoying a comfortable end to the season.
David Moyes quickly eased any relegation fears, and guided Everton to a 13th-placed finish in the table.
Everton’s haul of 48 Premier League points was impressive, with 31 of those coming from Moyes – that tally alone would have seen Everton safe by six points.
But it’s now time for Everton to kick on, and the transfer rumours are already starting.
One player Everton are said to be interested in is Callum Wilson – and that is interesting considering he’s a player who’s frustrated Moyes several times over the years.

Robbie Fowler once criticised Everton for not signing Callum Wilson
Wilson has been around for a while now.
The star is 33 and coming to the end of his career, but seemingly there will be one last move for him at the top level.
Everton are said to be interested, and it will be intriguing to see if they do land him – surely, given the player’s injury record, it would be most ideal to sign him on a pay-as-you-play deal.
Interestingly, Wilson is a player Robbie Fowler felt Everton should have signed years ago. He told the Mirror in June 2023: “But look at Callum Wilson, for instance. He was available to all the Premier League teams when Bournemouth went down in 2020.

“Plenty could have taken him…and plenty now wish they did (and yeah, I’m looking at you Everton).”
In the summer of 2020, Everton did not sign a striker.
Callum Wilson has been a thorn in David Moyes’ side
Moyes signing Wilson would be really interesting – because Wilson has a pretty good record against the Scot.
The striker has scored six goals against him previously, all of those coming while Moyes was manager of West Ham United.
One of those came in Moyes’ first stint there, and five came in his second.

And Wilson has also had a fair bit of joy against Everton down the years, scoring eight times against the Toffees to date in 11 appearances.
It remains to be seen if Everton bring Wilson in on a free transfer this summer. Certainly, though, he would not be signed to lead the line and only brought in to rotate.
