As the Toffees eye midfield additions, Everton are negotiating a deal for Carlos Alcaraz to sign on a permanent deal.

The Friedkins hold the option to buy Alcaraz following a short-term loan from Flamengo which saw him play for Everton from February.

According to Paul Joyce, Everton are now expected to complete their first piece of summer business with the Argentine.

It is claimed a deal in the region of £12.6m is now close to being fully agreed with Flamengo for the 22-year-old midfielder.

With talks believed to be progressing well, it looks like Everton fans can all but consider Alcaraz one of their players for the upcoming season.

Alcaraz really impressed Moyes as he developed well upon his return to the Premier League.

The Argentine showed his quality in the final game of the season at the weekend as he provided the only goal of the game to claim all three points.

With Doucoure departing the club, signing Alcaraz felt like a no brainer for the Toffees.

Beto loves playing alongside Alcaraz, with the Argentine providing him two assists during their games together in an Everton shirt.

The midfielder has shown his potential despite not always being selected by Moyes in the starting XI.

Despite this, Alcaraz has been keen to stay at Everton and he admitted as much following the full-time whistle on the weekend.
