Everton’s recruitment in recent years has been extremely hit and miss.
The Toffees’ rash spending has landed them in hot water with PSR, which caused two points deductions last season.
Many of Everton’s big-money signings have failed to deliver, with Davy Klaasen instantly springing to mind after this £30m transfer.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin is another notable example as he didn’t make the grade on Merseyside following a £25m switch.
And, indeed, Moise Kean, who arrived with great fanfare from Juventus in 2019. Kean is now flourishing at Fiorentina and is being heavily linked with a return to the Premier League.

Manchester United want to sign Moise Kean
Since leaving Everton, Moise Kean has reestablished himself as one of the best young strikers on the planet.
Kean is the second top scorer in Serie A, having netted 17 goals in 30 appearances for Fiorentina, whilst also bagging five in Europe.
Such form has seen Newcastle United and Arsenal show an interest in signing Kean, with his £44m release clause seen as a real opportunity.
Now, according to Santi Aouna, Ruben Amorim wants to sign the Everton flop at Manchester United this summer.
United haven’t been able to get a tune out of Rasmus Hojlund, who was the big-money buy a couple of years ago, so they’re now looking at Kean to make the grade at Old Trafford.
Kean doesn’t have any regrets about Everton spell
Speaking to Vivo Azzurro TV recently, Kean explained why he doesn’t regret the move to Everton in the summer of 2019.
“My adventure in the Premier League with Everton was a great experience, even if in England it didn’t go the way I would have liked,” the Italy international said,
“But you can learn from everything, and you can always get out of difficult moments.”
Clearly, the experience Kean had on Merseyside shaped him to become the striker he is today, and it’s nice to see him fulfilling his lofty potential.
