The summer transfer window is going to be an interesting one for Everton.
David Moyes will be preparing plenty of farewells to a number of the current squad coming to the end of their contracts.
With Everton not mathematically safe just yet, any decisions ahead of the summer are being put on hold for now.
However, there is the belief that Everton would like to hand Idrissa Gana Gueye a new contract.
Questions remain around numerous other players, with a double-digit number of players potentially heading for the exit doors at Finch Farm.
Players will need to come in over the summer to improve quality and squad depth, and one of Everton’s targets has just seen his manager open the door to an exit.

Eddie Howe opens door for Everton to sign Sean Longstaff
After showing January interest, Everton are now keen to sign Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window.
The Newcastle United midfielder is currently out of favour on Tyneside with Eddie Howe sticking with a regular midfield three.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Howe has spoken about the future of his 27-year-old midfielder on Tyneside.
“His role is to be ready to play, ready to come on and I have trusted him in big games where he has come on and played his part in those wins,” he said.
“We are going to need the whole squad in our league season. We have nine massive games to come and everybody has to be ready.
“His long-term future is slightly more unclear. But what I can say is that behind the scenes, Sean has been very good, helping the group, training to a high level and I cannot speak highly enough of him as a person.”
Longstaff would be open to joining Everton in the summer with the midfielder aware he needs to depart his boyhood club to play regular football.
Everton are set to lose Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala over the coming months and Longstaff could prove a real smart purchase by the Toffees.

Sean Longstaff could prove smart summer buy for Everton
The Englishman has been valued at around £12m ahead of the summer and would count towards Everton’s homegrown quota.
Newcastle did not want to lose Longstaff in January but the midfielder is going to have to move in the summer if he wants to play first team football.
| Premier League | Total |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 167 |
| Minutes | 10,929 |
| Goals | 10 |
| Assists | 9 |
At the age of 27, Longstaff has now racked up plenty of Premier League experience and has even scored in the Champions League.
Whether he would displace someone like James Garner remains to be seen, but at £12m, it is a deal which would reflect well on the Toffees.
