Everton have been handed optimism in the pursuit of one of their attacking targets.

David Moyes is now looking to add quality around Thierno Barry who completed his move to Merseyside last week.

The Frenchman was not in action against Accrington Stanley on Tuesday, as Barry enjoys the remainder of his summer break.

Before the 22-year-old joins up with his new teammates, Moyes is pushing for more Everton signings.

There is a focus on providing Everton with more goals this season and the 62-year-old will want more creativity around his new striker.

Everton have shown an interest in James McAtee, and the Toffees may have just been handed some hope of signing him from Manchester City.

Everton handed James McAtee transfer hope

McAtee has recently made a visit to Eintracht Frankfurt, with strong interest coming from the Bundesliga this summer.

There are clubs from across Europe who are looking to sign McAtee over the coming weeks.

According to Sky Sports, McAtee has returned to England from his visit to Frankfurt without a deal.

The report does claim Frankfurt remains an option for McAtee, but no club is yet to forward an offer on to Pep Guardiola’s side.

As well as the Blues, it is believed Nottingham Forest are now showing their interest with Morgan Gibbs-White potentially set for the door.

McAtee is ready to leave Man City this summer as he looks to play more regular football elsewhere.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, McAtee is looking like an attractive option for many teams.

Everton need to get players in before the pre-season tour

Following the game on Tuesday at the Wham Stadium, Everton play once again on Saturday at Ewood Park.

But the following Saturday will see the Blues in action against Bournemouth over in the United States.

Therefore, Moyes will be taking his side to the airport at some point next week, meaning there is not much time for any new faces to land in time for the tour.

Angus Kinnear has a huge job this summer at Everton, but it is now time for him to get on with it and land Moyes the players he wants.
