Harrison Armstrong was in action for Everton on Tuesday night in the opening friendly of the summer.
David Moyes’ side were only able to claim a draw against League Two outfit Accrington Stanley, but valuable minutes were earned.
Pre-season is about getting the players back to full fitness, and the Everton staff have been working the players hard behind the scenes.
Armstrong has impressed Everton coaches, including Moyes, during their training camp up in Scotland last week.
The 18-year-old midfielder comes into the summer following a solid loan stint with Derby County last term.
Moyes has opened the door for Armstrong to earn his spot at Everton, and the youngster has now shared his thoughts on what could lie ahead.

Harrison Armstrong shares latest on his Everton future
Everton fans loved what they saw from Armstrong on Tuesday night at the Wham Stadium, as he started the game in midfield.
An important summer lies ahead of the 18-year-old who is keen to stick around and make a name for himself.
Speaking to Everton TV after the game, Armstrong was keen to play down any notion of him already showing enough to play under Moyes this season.
“I’m taking the approach of what will happen will happen,” he said after the game.
“I’m just seeing how it goes, really and seeing how it goes. I’m doing my best to impress, and if it’s meant to be, it will be.”
“It’s just part of my game being busy. Obviously, as time goes on, playing more with players like Tim [Iroegbunam] and Jimmy [Garner], I’ll get used to what they like to do more and I’ll be able to get in more dangerous positions,” he added.
Armstrong has been working on his fitness even before the players returned to Finch Farm for the start of pre-season.
The young midfielder is certainly doing all he can do to catch the attention of the Everton staff, but there is plenty of football still needing to be played this summer.
Everton do need to add another midfielder this summer
Despite the positivity surrounding Armstrong, Everton are looking to sign another midfielder in time for the new season.
Idrissa Gana Gueye may have signed a new deal, but the Senegal international is only tied down for guaranteed further year.
Everton know as well as any club how injuries can decimate their squad, with Orel Mangala’s season being written off from January.
On Wednesday, it was claimed that Everton have prepared a bid for Tomas Soucek.
Armstrong is looking like a player who could add a lot to this Everton squad, but whether Moyes is quite willing to make him a starter is another question.
