Everton will likely be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer – and a new claim about Liam Delap this evening may put David Moyes on alert.
Everton currently have four strikers in the books; Beto, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti.
It hasn’t been a good season for the quartet, although Beto recently showed signs of improvement under Moyes. But he’s now gone five games without a goal.
Duncan Ferguson has urged Everton to sign a top striker, if the club is to challenge for European football in 2025/26.
Undoubtedly, Everton will need someone who’s a bit more prolific than the current crop if that ambition is to be realised.
One player Everton are showing interest in at the moment is Liam Delap of Ipswich.
But now, there’s been a new suggestion which could put David Moyes on red alert.
Everton target Liam Delap could cost just £30 million this summer as new relegation clause claim made

It has been claimed by the Guardian this evening that Delap stands to have a £30 million relegation release clause this summer.
It’d previously been claimed that Delap would be available for £40 million in the event of Ipswich being relegated, which is practically certain to happen.
That is quite a difference, and if true, will certainly increase the interest in a player who is already fairly coveted.
Despite the Tractor Boys’ struggles this season, Delap himself as impressed, scoring 12 goals in 33 appearances.
It is only his first full season in the Premier League, and the youngster has caught the eye with his pace, power and finishing.
Everton should be all over Delap if £30 relegation release clause is true
If it’s true that Delap would cost £30 million this summer if Ipswich are relegated, and not £40 million as was previously claimed, then Everton and Moyes should be all over him.
Moyes needs a striker this summer, with Calvert-Lewin likely to leave when his contract ends.
Chermiti may need a loan move, and it remains to be seen what happens with Broja, who will need a big last six weeks or so if he’s to convince Everton buy him.

Ultimately, Delap has now proven he can score goals in the top-flight of English football.
Everton fans were keen for the club to sign Delap before, and now the appetite to see him become a Toffees player will be even bigger. But it’s at least been said Manchester City are unlikely to sign Delap.
Let’s hope the manager feels the same way.
But of course, if Delap does have a £30 million clause, one would imagine the battle to sign him will be very tough.
