Everton’s summer has certainly been a turbulent one with their work in the transfer market slightly tarred by what has gone on elsewhere at the club.

Kevin Thelwell has been a busy man this summer and he has done a sterling job in the market so far.

Everton have been able to offload a number of players to help balance their books against June’s PSR deadline.

But that has not stopped the Toffees from providing Sean Dyche with the tools he has needed to improve his squad going into the new season.

Two years later and Phillips has played a mere 914 minutes of football under Pep Guardiola.

He may have won countless trophies, but his career has really suffered with his spot in the England squad no more.

The midfielder did make the cut for City’s pre-season tour of the United States where Guardiola provided a response on what could be next for Phillips.

“I don’t know what will happen to him, he knows the situation…” said Guardiola.
