Everton’s summer has really got up and running in recent weeks following a further two new additions to the squad.

Sean Dyche had enjoyed a solid start to the summer transfer window with the additions of Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam in the earlier stages of the window.

The Toffees had also been able to move on some players with Everton able to balance the books with player sales to avoid another PSR nightmare.

But over the course of the last week, the Blues have seen Jesper Lindstrom and Jake O’Brien added to Dyche’s options.

However, that may not be the end of The Toffees’ summer business with Everton holding an interest in Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.

And his manager, Pep Guardiola, has just provided an update on the midfielder’s future from the United States.

What Pep Guardiola said about Kalvin Phillips’ future

It has been a difficult couple of years for the former England international following his departure from Leeds United.

Phillips is just one of the Premier League players to have been gazumped following their move to Guardiola’s City side.

The likes of Matheus Nunes from Wolves is another example of a player whose career has nosedived after being unable to earn regular minutes on the back of a big money move to the Etihad.

However, this summer could provide Phillips with an escape route and with an opportunity to revive his career.

Speaking from City’s pre-season trip to the States, Guardiola made it clear to the media that Phillips was aware of what his future could hold.

“I don’t know what will happen to him, he knows the situation…” said Guardiola.

Everton are one of the clubs who are showing an interest in Phillips despite his poor loan spell at West Ham last season.

But the midfielder is in desperate need of regular minutes and a spot in Everton’s XI may have just opened up for him following the sale of Amadou Onana earlier this month.

Kalvin Phillips could prove his worth at Everton

The past two years have been really bruising for the 28-year-old who missed out on England’s squad for the Euros this summer.

Despite joining City two years ago, Phillips has only been able to rack up 914 minutes across all competitions under Guardiola.

Having paid £42m for the midfielder from Leeds, it is a move which could well have drained Phillips of his confidence and that could have been seen during his spell at Leeds.

Perhaps a manager like Dyche could put an arm around thr 28-year-old and help guide him back to the form he showed during his time at Elland Road.
