Everton only made one recruit in the winter transfer window.

Carlos Alcaraz was Everton’s only signing as he completed a six-month loan move from Brazilian outfit Flamengo.

Alcaraz had been tracked by the Toffees for some time, dating back to his first stint in England with Southampton.

David Moyes was keen to add an attacking midfielder to his ranks and it was decided that the Argentinian would suit his system.

The signing has certainly been a success so far as Moyes has been really impressed with Alcaraz’s performances.

Now, a decision has just been made on whether Everton will sign Alcaraz on a permanent deal in the summer.

Everton intend to sign Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent deal no matter what

Alcaraz has certain clauses in his contract that could activate a permanent deal worth £15m this summer.

According to Torcida Flamengo, the deal will become permanent if the 22-year-old starts six games or if he plays for at least 45 minutes in six appearances.

So far, Alcaraz has made two starts so it seems pretty likely he will hit that threshold, however, there has been a suggestion that Everton may avoid activating it in order to renegotiate better terms at the end of the season.

Either way, Everton are intent on signing Alcaraz no matter what.

Alcaraz has really ‘charmed’ David Moyes

The report further adds that Alcaraz has really ‘charmed’ Moyes and his coaching staff, so there is no desire for him to return to Brazil in the summer.

The energetic midfielder is loving life in the Premier League and it’s thought he’s really taken to Moyes’ style of play.

Alcaraz is most effective in transition when he can carry the ball into space, which is exactly the role he’s being asked to play.

So it’s seems like the perfect fit for all parties.
