Everton reach agreement to sign Jaden Philogene

The latest on Everton’s pursuit of Jaden Philogene comes courtesy of the Daily Mail, who have actually offered a positive update from Merseyside.

After all, it was widely considered a three-horse race to sign the Hull City winger, with the Toffees battling with Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace for the 22-year-old.

Well, according to this report, one team is narrowly ahead, having actually struck an agreement with the Tigers now.

It reads: ‘Everton are hopeful of heading off competition from Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace for Jaden Philogene after the winger indicated a willingness to join them.

Given how Philogene’s agent has been trying to force a move to Barcelona with some questionable tactics, and how open his representatives have been in their negotiations, it is so blatantly clear that the former Aston Villa man is desperate to leave Hull.

Fortunately, his stunning recent campaign in the Championship has garnered plenty of suitors, which affords him some leeway regarding the odd decisions made throughout this saga.

One such example was an interview that the player gave to Que T’hi Jugues, where he actively updated people on the progress of his exit.

He claimed: ‘I chose the Premier League because it is the clearest offer I have, but my dream is still La Liga. Barça is my dream, I hope I can sign for them one day. My idols are Ronaldinho and Neymar.’

To be so open about leaving Hull City, but also even more open about his plans to then leave his new club should Barcelona come calling, Philogene is not winning any new fans.

A mercenary already at such a young age, this would still be a high-value deal for Everton to complete.
