Everton’s transfer business this window could yet be busy over the remaining days as loan interest emerges in an exciting 24-year-old.

Everton has yet to make any move this window – neither incoming nor outgoing – although this could yet change with a couple of days remaining for business to be done.

The midfield seems to be the area in which Sean Dyche wants to be strengthened, but it hasn’t just been Everton who’ve been quiet this window, with the whole league not making moves.

This is something Dyche has touched on and suggested that it could be the Toffees 10-point deduction which is leading others to tread carefully. A year on from Dyche’s arrival at Goodison Park and with all the turbulence he’s had to endure, he deserves an incoming or two.

Before the window shuts, he could get just that.

Everton hold ‘definite interest’ in Florentino Luis

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Everton’s end-of-window attention is firmly fixed on Benfica’s 24-year-old midfielder Florentino Luis.

He reports that the Goodison Park side hold a ‘definite interest’ in the Portuguese destroyer who is highly valued by Benfica although a loan deal is being explored.

Luis was once one of Europe’s finest midfield prospects with the quality to play for Real Madrid and could easily reach that level with his excellent defensive qualities.

The ‘exceptional and tenacious’ gem was once compared with one of the best defensive midfielders in the past 15 years, Casemiro.

Loan moves are still looking to be on the cards for Everton, with former Middlesbrough man Chuba Akpom potentially an option on loan from Ajax on loan.

How does Florentino Luis compare to Casemiro?

Luis is by trade a traditional ball-winning defensive midfielder who is more an anchor than anything else. He thrives in winning the ball and then giving it to his more creative-minded teammates.

This can be seen in his stats with 29 tackles won this season and 68 duels won alongside 24 interceptions, as per Fot Mob. He also boasts an 89% pass completion rate which demonstrates how reliable he is in possession.

These qualities are reminiscent of the prime Casemiro that many will remember from his Real Madrid days or even at times at Manchester United last season in particular.

He’d be ideal for Dyche to place in the six before allowing the likes of James Garner and Amadou Onana to do the more creative work further up the field.
