Everton are one of the clubs looking to prise Gustavo Hamer away from Sheffield United.

A new midfielder is on the agenda for Everton when the summer transfer market opens for business.

Work has been going on behind the scenes with David Moyes and the recruitment team at Finch Farm to compile a list of transfer targets.

Everton have already seen Abdoulaye Doucoure leave following his decision to explore his options elsewhere.

He may be followed on his way out of Merseyside as Idrissa Gana Gueye is receiving interest from Paris FC following their promotion to Ligue 1.

Midfield additions are going to be needed regardless of Gueye’s future and Everton are eyeing Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United as an option.

How much Sheffield United would want to sell Everton Gustavo Hamer

It has been suggested Sheffield United are resigned to losing Hamer over the coming months.

The Blades lost their Play-Off final at the weekend against Sunderland, which will throw the midfielder’s future into doubt.

According to Team Talk, Chris Wilder’s side would consider selling Hamer if a bid in the region of £20m was to land at Bramall Lane.

It is claimed Everton have now enquired about the Dutchman who enjoyed another impressive season in the Championship.

Leeds United will provide Everton competition for the midfielder’s signature, but it is the Blues who desperately need some new additions.

Everton have opened talks to sign Carlos Alcaraz permanently following his short-term loan deal from Flamengo.

Hamer played the 2023/24 season in the Premier League where he returned four goals and seven assists; which is as many assists as Dwight McNeil offered this season.

Hamer could offer David Moyes a lot of versatility

With Everton needing a number of midfield additions, a player like Hamer could be the perfect option for Moyes given his versatility.

Hamer has played across five different positions this season but left midfield has been the most prolific for the 27-year-old.

Everton have also shown an interest in Sean Longstaff who would certainly add something different to Hamer.

The question is whether the Toffees are willing to take a £20m risk on a player who has limited Premier League experience at the age of 27.
