Transfer deadline day was now a week ago, but a revelation has emerged following Everton’s actions.

It was a fairly quiet last day of the window as Everton made the one signing through German midfielder Merlin Rohl.

Rohl could make his debut versus Aston Villa after the international break, as fans want to see what he’s all about.

The midfielder topped off a successful summer, as Everton had a net spend of £109 million, after The Friedkin Group were ambitious.

However, not everything the Toffees did left clubs satisfied, and one side’s true feelings have risen to the surface.

West Brom were left frustrated after they missed out on Everton’s Harrison Armstrong

A big decision had to be made regarding the future of Harrison Armstrong, as David Moyes was torn between keeping the youngster or letting him leave on loan.

Of course, the Scotsman picked the latter, with the midfielder joining Preston North End in the Championship.

But it seems like the deadline day choice made by Everton angered West Brom, as Journalist Alan Nixon has revealed the club’s frustration at the 18-year-old not joining them.

The Baggies were interested in Armstrong and were ultimately left ‘angry’ about missing out on bringing the exciting teenager in.

It seemed like the Everton starlet was of heavy interest to a lot of clubs, with the Preston boss worried that Armstrong might stay, but it’s clear why the Lilywhites were the perfect destination.

Preston is the best environment for Harrison Armstrong to thrive after Everton success stories

It’s clear that Moyes has kept a deep-rooted connection with Preston, after the 62-year-old spent five years there as a player, and eventually started his managerial career with the Lancashire side.

The club put him on the map, and now the Blues manager is returning the favour, but there is another reason.

Previously, the likes of Tom Cannon and Anthony Gordon have gone to Preston with loan spells, as both have now gone on to star for Sheffield United and Newcastle, respectively.

Their development with the club brought the best out of them, and the same can now happen with Armstrong as he embarks on what could be his final loan spell before integrating himself into the squad.

Moyes could recall Armstrong due to AFCON, as a four-month spell might be enough for the midfielder to really shine on the Premier League stage.
