Everton looking to sign ‘wonderful’ 11-goal English gem who’s been on Manchester City’s transfer radar

Everton had a quiet January transfer window, but fans can’t expect a lot of activity this summer.

The Friedkin Group completed their takeover of the club in December, and supporters had been hoping for an active mid-season window.

But in the end, only Carlos Alcaraz joined the club, on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo.

Ultimately, Everton were still wary of PSR, and Moyes didn’t want money spent on players who wouldn’t necessarily improve Everton.

But the picture will be different in the summer and The Friedkin Group will reportedly hand Moyes a healthy transfer budget.

A number of players could be leaving due to their contracts expiring, so fans can expect fresh blood.

And the club now have eyes on a highly rated player from League One.

Everton interested in signing Harrison Duncan

It’s been reported by Alan Nixon that Harrison Duncan of Rotherham United is a player admired by Everton.

The journalist reports via his Patreon that Everton are looking to win the race for the 16-year-old, who has been described as ‘a wonderful, wonderful talent’ by his manager Steve Evans (via Rotherham Advertiser).

Duncan is a name to watch out for.

Earlier this season, Evans was quoted as saying: “There were so many scouts watching him.

“I was surprised to see some of the names on the list – they were from big clubs, both in the Premier League and the Championship.

“For him to be only four months past his 16th birthday and to be able to go out and handle the occasion and play the way he did tells you a lot about him.”

Evans has also suggested Duncan – who has an impressive 11 goals from centre-half at youth level this season – is a player in the John Stones mould.

Everton, of course, signed John Stones from Barnsley all the way back in 2013. The club also have Jarrad Branthwaite now, who’s also been compared to Stones.

Duncan is yet to make his first-team debut for Rotherham but could be close to doing so, having been included in their matchday squad in midweek for the game against Blackpool.

Manchester City have been linked with Duncan

So Everton will possibly push to sign Duncan, and by many accounts, he is a top prospect.

Everton may well have their work cut out to sign him though.

Evans already said about a number of Premier League clubs scouting him – and one club who’ve apparently been on his tail is Manchester City.

Alan Nixon reported earlier this season that the Premier League champions were showing interest in the youngster.

West Ham United were also credited with an interest by Nixon.

It remains to be seen which lucky club wins the race, but hopefully, the lure of eventually playing in a brand new stadium for a club with new owners might be something Duncan fancies
