Everton are expected to sign a winger this summer transfer window.

Tyrique George is set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season, with Everton unlikely to sign him on a permanent deal.

So, David Moyes has been looking at potential replacements, with Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Millwall talisman Femi Azeez has also emerged as a target for the Toffees, and now they may have moved a step closer to landing his signature after a recent development.

Everton’s chances of signing Femi Azeez boosted

Moyes sent scouts to watch Azeez earlier this season after standing out for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

The left-footed wide player netted 11 goals whilst laying on eight assists for The Lions and ended the campaign as the highest rated player in the division, according to WhoScored.

Azeez was in action in the play-off semi-final second leg against Hull City last night, and his side were defeated 2-0 on the night.

That said, Millwall’s promotion dream is over as they will be spending another year in the second tier, which puts Everton in a very strong position.

The Toffees now have the financial and negotiating power to strike an agreement with Millwall and convince Azeez to make the switch to Merseyside.

It was reported prior to the play-offs that Azeez would be moving to the Premier League regardless of whether Millwall went up.

The 24-year-old has also been linked to Leeds United, Sunderland and Fulham, so Everton will have to move at pace with this deal.
