Everton are in the market for a central midfielder this summer transfer window.

David Moyes wants to bolster his ranks and has been drawing up a shortlist of potential targets ahead of the fast-approaching summer.

The Toffees have been linked to Milton Delgado in recent weeks, who is an Argentinian defensive midfielder likened to N’Golo Kante.

Everton also hold an interest in a Premier League star whom Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is a huge admirer of.

Everton are reportedly interested in John McGinn, with Moyes identifying him as a target since his return last year.

McGinn has two years left on his contract, so perhaps Villa will consider cashing in on him for the right price.

Emery has described the 31-year-old as the ultimate professional, so clearly he’d be a great character to have in Everton’s dressing room.

“He is himself very demanding,” the Villa manager stated earlier this season.

“He is competitive, he always is ready to play, physically as well. I think when he is not training or playing he is resting – his energy always is full.

How would you feel about Romelu Lukaku returning to Everton? 🫣

“He is a very good example, of how he is consistent and trying to help and to be an example, a very good example for players.

“I really, really appreciate a lot as a person how he is, but as a professional, he is fantastic.”

The only downside to signing McGinn would be the impact it would have on Harrison Armstrong’s development.

Moyes recently admitted Armstrong is experiencing a dip in his career, but that’s surely down to a lack of opportunities.

Those minutes will be even less if McGinn joins, so Toffees chiefs should seriously consider whether another midfielder is needed.
