Everton are ready to attack the January transfer market and bolster their squad after a difficult few weeks of injuries.

Just as things were starting to look positive for Everton, the Toffees have been knocked down a peg because of various injury issues.

David Moyes is set for a nervous wait ahead of this Saturday’s game against Arsenal following the disastrous trip to Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has suffered a hamstring injury, which saw the 27-year-old midfielder withdrawn at half-time.

However, the injury to the in-form midfielder only scratches the surface of Everton’s possible absences from the weekend.

With the winter market days away from opening, the Toffees have been revealed as the ‘top’ club monitoring one specific target.

Everton closely monitoring Franculino Dju

Everton News has reported that Everton have been scouting Franculino Dju at FC Midtjylland for a number of months now.

The in-form striker is a player who is highly regarded by those on Merseyside following a really impressive start to the season.

According to Danish outlet Indkast, Everton are the ‘top’ visitor in scouting the Danish side ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims the Toffees have visited FC Midtjylland a total of eight times this season, with Everton News aware of the interest in Franculino.

Everton are one of many clubs from across Europe who have their eyes on Franculino, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also named.

There is an understanding that if the striker is to be sold, FC Midtjylland would demand £40m for Franculino in the January window.

That is a significant sum of money for the Blues to find for another striker who would arrive without Premier League experience.

Everton need a Premier League-proven striker

There is a clear need for Everton to bring in another striker in January following their struggles in front of goal this season.

Thierno Barry has grown in confidence at Everton on the back of his first goal for the club against Nottingham Forest.

However, Everton’s strikers have still combined for a total of just two Premier League goals this season.

Although there may be excitement around Barry’s potential, the Blues clearly need a player who could offer Moyes goals from the off in January.

Everton are keen to sign a new striker, but adding a player like Franculino could prove another risky signing, just like with Barry.

Ideally Everton would look to sign a proven striker, and one with Premier League experience.
