David Moyes is yet to welcome a signing to Everton this winter.
The Glaswegian hinted that a new arrival could be heading to the Hill Dickinson Stadium after the 1-1 draw against Leeds on Monday, when saying: “I might find out a bit more over the next day or two.”
That may have been a suggestion that David Moyes is waiting to hear how The Friedkin Group are getting on in talks with Al-Nassr, as ESPN Brasil now claim that Everton are attempting to sign Wesley Gassova from the Saudi Arabian outfit.
Everton LEAD the race to sign Wesley Gassova from Al-Nassr 🇧🇷
Do we really need a winger over a full-back or striker? 🤔
Everton in discussions over Wesley Gassova
ESPN Brasil not only state that Everton are in talks to sign the Brazil U20 international this month – who plays on the left wing – but they go as far as to say that the Toffees are leading the race ahead of other Premier League sides.
There is no mention of how much the 20-year-old could cost Everton, but considering Al-Nassr spent €25m (£20m) to sign the South American from Corinthians back in August 2024, we would presume the Saudi Pro League side at least want to recoup that fee.
Cafu has hailed Wesley Gassova as the “next joy” of Brazil
Despite the fact he is yet to turn 21 – which will happen in March – Wesley can still boast 124 appearances in senior football across his time in Brazil and Saudi Arabia.
It should therefore come as no surprise to hear that the legendary Cafu has backed the Everton target to be the “next joy” for Brazil.
The man who amassed 142 caps for Brazil and lifted two World Cups told Il Messaggero (via HITC) back in July 2024: “The very strong one is Endrick, but he has now gone to Real Madrid. However, I am banking on Wesley from Corinthians. He is a very good left winger. He will be our next joy. Without a doubt.”
PROVE ME WRONG: Everton needed more signings in January to make a real European push👇
Alan Myers has hinted at TFG's approach to transfers at Everton, and it won't please fans…
That endorsement speaks volumes from someone as esteemed as Cafu, so Everton fans should be very excited if these talks with Al-Nassr materialise into a total agreement.
