Everton are now preparing a bid to sign Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United.
It was Turkish news outlet Kuzey Ekspres who revealed the news when sharing that Trabzonspor hope to sign the Sheffield United No.8 this summer – although the Super Lig side are warned that Everton are also in the mix.
Some may question what a Turkish organisation know about transfer plans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – but history serves to suggest David Moyes really does have a desire to sign Gustavo Hamer.
Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
Everton once again trying to sign Gustavo Hamer
Everton were linked to Hamer back in May 2025 after Sheffield United lost the Championship play-off final to Sunderland, and The Friedkin Group remain alert to the prospect of signing him after another strong season.
The man born in Itajai, Brazil has scored four goals and provided 11 assists in 32 appearances for the Blades so far this term, having netted ten goals and set up another eight in 46 games last season.
Kuzey Ekspres believe Sheffield United have placed a €20m (£17m) valuation on Hamer as he approaches the final 12 months of his contract. A sale looks likely with the Blades highly unlikely to achieve promotion, currently sitting 17th in the Championship.
Everton told Gustavo Hamer is like a Championship Paul Gascoigne
The legendary Paul Gascoigne made 37 appearances for Everton between 2000 and 2002, and former Sheffield United defender Paul Parker has previously compared Hamer – the 2025 Championship Player of the Year – to the England icon.
Speaking to The Yorkshire Post in September 2025, he said: “He’s definitely top two in the Championship. Every time I watch him, he’s a focal point. He reminds me, really, of a modern-day Gazza.”
That is incredibly high praise for the former Netherlands U20 international, who has become a respected figure in English football thanks to his consistently excellent displays for Coventry and now Sheffield United.
Seven games left and on 46 points – how many points do you expect Everton to finish on? 🤔
If Everton can strike a deal for close to £17m as a result of the 28-year-old’s contract situation, it could prove to be one of the bargains of the summer.
