Everton defender Ben Godfrey is a target for a Europa League club.
Ben Godfrey joined Everton from Norwich City with high expectations in 2020, with the club coughing up a huge £25 million.
The centre-back really impressed at the start of his career on Merseyside, being named the Supporters’ Young Player of the Season in his first term.
Godfrey was even named in the 33-man provisional England squad for the EURO 2020 tournament, but it wasn’t long before his game-time for Everton deteriorated.
Godfrey fell down the pecking order and has been behind the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski and even Michael Keane.
The 25-year-old has only managed one start in the Premier League this season, replacing the injured Branthwaite in the win over Burnley last month.
Having made only three appearances in all competitions this season, Godfrey has already been linked with a move away from Goodison Park.

Reports in November claimed that both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United had been monitoring Godfrey ahead of the January transfer window, and now it looks like they could be on Roma’s shortlist.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are looking to bolster their backline but limited funds are making their pursuit difficult. While they will look to offload some players to make room for a new arrival, they could also look to sign Godfrey on the cheap.
Should Everton sell Ben Godfrey?
While the £25m fee Everton paid for Ben Godfrey now seems pretty shocking, it would still be surprising if the Toffees let him leave for quite the bargain that Roma are suggesting.
The defender still has a year-and-a-half left on his contract and interest from the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle could surely bump up the price a little.
There’s no chance Everton will recoup the eight-figure sum they paid for Godfrey over three years ago and the club’s financial situation could make accepting a low fee even more tempting, but he could still earn them some cash for their own incomings.
Everton would surely have to add their own defensive reinforcements if Godfrey was to leave though. James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Jarrad Branthwaite are the club’s only other senior centre-back options and the team would be in big trouble if any of them suffered a major injury.
