Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher were in firm agreement that one Everton player really shone in the 3-3 draw at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton thought they’d got their biggest result of the season, only for City to find two late goals, with the equaliser coming right at the death through Jeremy Doku.
Who was your Man of the Match as Everton settle for a point? 🤝
It was a sickener for Everton, who had done brilliantly to come from behind to create a two-goal cushion.
Everton have now conceded in injury-time for the third game running, to leave their European hopes hanging by a thread.
But it was a very good night for Everton’s midfielders – and Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher were both left impressed by one in particular.
Merlin Rohl praised on Monday Night Football

David Moyes threw a curveball tonight by starting Merlin Rohl in a right-wing position.
He had not started for the Toffees since he impressed in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa back in January.
But he came in – and fully vindicated his selection by the manager.
Rohl was tireless throughout, and also caused City problems with his pace. He provided the assist for Thierno Barry’s second goal, collecting a throw-in by Jake O’Brien.
How do you even begin to explain that? 😫
Everton have conceded late on AGAIN… 😡
His assist came via a skewed shot, but the German most definitely deserved the assist for his whole performance.
And after the game, his efforts were acknowledged by Sky pundits Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher.
As they were analysing the second goal by Barry, Carragher said (via Sky): “He had a very good game.”
Henry concurred, adding: “He was very good. Very good!”
Rohl deserves to start Everton’s next game vs Crystal Palace
Following this display from Rohl, it’s difficult to place why he has barely played since that game against Aston Villa.
Moyes rather threw him in at the deep end by starting him against City, but he was one of Everton’s best players on the night, having a hand in two of the three goals.
Who is to blame for this? 🙄
This is becoming a real issue for Everton and costing them valuable points! 😭
Arguably, he now has a case to keep his place and start against Palace this weekend.
It has not been the easiest first season for Rohl, and he was warmed the bench far more than he would have liked.
But he’s now put himself in he position to finish the season strongly.
