Everton will be desperate to translate their blistering away form into Goodison Park, with tonight’s clash with Newcastle United an ample, albeit arduous, opportunity to do so.
The Toffees have been uncharacteristically mesmeric on the road this season, winning four and losing just twice. Meanwhile, a sole home win makes for painful viewing, with the fanbase content given their steady progression, but wary that this is a trend that desperately needs changing.
Fortunately, a night match can often provoke the most raucous atmosphere out of Evertonians, who will need no incentive to get up for tonight’s game given the faux rivalry forged between the two sides in recent years.
With a number of potential injuries to contend with, and a selection headache in a few key areas, Sean Dyche will have to achieve tactical perfection if they are to keep the Magpies quiet…
Here’s our predicted XI for Everton’s game vs Newcastle United…
Jordan Pickford is arguably the first name on the team sheet nowadays, as an Everton goalkeeper completely different from the one who used to get riled up by this fixture.
The hope will be that he is given little to do though, with the back four in front of him tasked with achieving such a goal.

James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite are expected to continue their partnership, with Vitaliy Mykolenko taking up residence on their left flank. However, right-back remains a position of great contention.
Dyche is a clear fan of Ashley Young, much to the dismay of the fanbase. With Seamus Coleman fit enough for a place on the bench against Nottingham Forest, perhaps tonight could mark the return of their steadfast leader to silence Anthony Gordon.
Then, moving into midfield, and James Garner will almost certainly make up one-half of their double pivot. If deemed fit, Amadou Onana should be his partner, with the two sitting just behind Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison will surely remain unchanged out wide, whilst the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be fit has left fans excited about their chances of claiming victory tonight.
The £100k-per-week marksman, who became an Everton ‘hero’ at Goodison Park in the eyes of journalist Joe Thomas for his late winner against Crystal Palace to ensure survival, will be hoping to add to the five goals he has already notched against tonight’s opposition.
