Everton have just a couple of weeks to get their final pieces of transfer business over the line.

Any last-minute signings ahead of the trip to Elland Road on Monday are now looking unlikely, with the deadline to play this weekend shutting on Friday.

David Moyes will be satisfied with his options for the game against Leeds United, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Everton are expected to make Thierno Barry their starting striker, but there could be more arrivals before the end of the window.

The Toffees lost a number of attacking options earlier this summer, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to join Leeds.

But there is one player in Jamie Vardy who has been offered as a potential free agent signing to the Blues.

Everton ‘offered’ chance to sign Jamie Vardy

Despite signing Barry, it is believed that Moyes is open to signing another striker this summer.

The 62-year-old has not exactly seen the goals fly in throughout pre-season, with Moyes even publicly criticising Beto.

According to one insider, Everton have even been offered the opportunity to sign Jamie Vardy following his exit from Leicester City.

‘Jamie Vardy, who is a free agent, has been offered to various clubs including Everton on several occasions this summer, but still has no takers,’ he said.

The 38-year-old remains in search of his next club having left the Foxes as a free agent.

Vardy has been offered to Everton more than once, but the Blues have not taken his agents up on the opportunity.

Everton did previously show an interest in Callum Wilson before he made his move to West Ham United.

The free agent market will hand the Toffees an opportunity to boost their squad depth, and an experienced figure could really help develop the likes of Barry.

What Pep Guardiola said about Jamie Vardy

There would naturally be a lot of fans who would be concerned if Everton were to make a move for Vardy this summer.

At 38, his game time would likely be limited, with an impact off the bench likely the plan.

However, he could provide a lot off the pitch, with years of experience playing in the Premier League.

Barry is going to have a lot to learn, and fans will want to see him providing a return quickly following his £27m arrival.

Vardy has been hailed by Pep Guardiola in the past, with the Manchester City boss praising him as ‘one of the best’ strikers around.

“Jamie Vardy scored goals against us and against all the teams, because in the box, in the final third, he’s exceptional,” Guardiola previously said.

“He’s one of the better strikers I’ve ever seen in movement, in finishing, in high pressing. In many things he’s an exceptional player.”
