Everton have seen a lot of changes made over the last 12 months under The Friedkin Group and more could be on its way.

The Toffees have seen huge improvements made following The Friedkin Group’s takeover back in late 2024.

David Moyes has helped to spearhead the new chapter on Merseyside with the Americans at the helm and the signs have been positive.

Everton are hoping for more additions in the January transfer window after their 62-year-old manager set an ambitious target of European qualification.

Big changes off the pitch have been seen in leaving Goodison Park behind for the state-of-the-art Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Another emotional goodbye at Everton could be set for the near future as an update has emerged amid the January window.

Everton in line for emotional goodbye in the summer

It has already been suggested that Everton are keen to add a new right-back in the January window to bolster their options.

Nathan Patterson made a rare start on Tuesday evening as injury issues ravage through Moyes’ squad on Merseyside.

According to Sky Sports, Everton are looking to bring in a specialised right-back among a number of other areas.

Jake O’Brien has become the usual right-back under Moyes, but the Ireland international is naturally a centre-back.

Interestingly, the report acknowledges how Seamus Coleman’s contract is coming to an end this summer, as well as his career.

The right-back has not featured since Everton’s win at Old Trafford after Coleman picked up another injury issue.

His new deal to keep him around for this season was largely due to what he brought off the pitch, but there are clear signs that an emotional ending could be on the cards this summer.

Everton could send Seamus Coleman off in style

Moyes is desperate for Everton to push for Europe this season and there could be no better way of sending Coleman off if he was to retire.

The question then would be what role could he potentially take up at the club after he hangs up his boots.

Last year, Moyes mooted a potential coaching role for Coleman, who had already taken to the dugout alongside Leighton Baines following Sean Dyche’s sacking.

Coleman has already completed his coaching badges, which could mean a role at some level in the club could be on offer.

After years at the club, Coleman has become one of the true Everton leaders and the club will surely want to keep his voice around in some capacity.
