Everton manager David Moyes has made something very clear to The Friedkin Group on the back of Tuesday’s win over Nottingham Forest.

The Toffees were able to defy the odds at the City Ground and leave with another three points in the bag to close out the year.

Moyes was struck with some further bad news ahead of Everton’s trip to face Forest.

With Michael Keane and Charly Alcaraz now injured for Everton, Moyes was in desperate need of his other players to step up to the plate.

It would be more than fair to say that’s exactly what the 62-year-old saw from his players, who were full value for their win.

Something the 62-year-old said on the back of the three points should be heard loud and clear by The Friedkin Group with immediate action needed.

The Friedkins must hear David Moyes’ James Garner plea at Everton

Having supplied a goal and an assist, Everton fans waxed lyrical about James Garner as their Man of the Match at the City Ground.

The 24-year-old midfielder absolutely dominated once again as his quality shone through against his former side.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game on Tuesday, Moyes could not hold back his delight with how Garner has been performing.

What did you make of James Garner’s performance? 😳

Everton midfielder James Garner.

“He was fantastic tonight, he really was,” said the 62-year-old.

“Coming back to his old club, I thought he played really well – but he has for a while. He’s playing so well for us and he’s taken on a bit more responsibility, a bit more of the leadership, so he’s really matured.”

Garner is locked in contract talks with Everton, but it is believed that the parties are still some way away when it comes to the salary being offered.

On the back of his recent performances, it is clear that it is Garner who will surely hold the cards when it comes to the negotiations.

The Friedkins must offer what it takes to keep James Garner

It must be noted that Everton hold a 12-month extension clause for Garner which will mean he won’t be leaving on a free at the end of the season.

However, Everton fans will still want to see the Friedkins secure their current top performer down to a new deal.

Where should James Garner rank among Everton’s top earners? 💰

He's been excellent this season, but surely he can't become the top earner!

Garner is looking like captain material for Everton as he continues to dominate the midfield even without Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Given all of the requirements for Everton in the upcoming transfer windows, the last thing Moyes needs is to replace a player of Garner’s importance.

Having seen what the 24-year-old is showing in an Everton shirt, the Friedkins simply have to pay the man what he wants.
