Amidst the recent turnaround on the pitch, interest has remained in the progress of Everton’s proposed takeover at the hands of 777 Partners.
Having agreed a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s full 94.1% stake back in September, it was widely accepted that it would take a while for the Premier League to come to their decision over whether they would pass the fit and proper owners test.
We have since learned that this was likely due to the ongoing investigation surrounding the Toffees’ finances, which resulted in their ludicrous ten-point deduction.
Well, at last it seems the fans have an update, but it is far from the clear piece of information they have craved.

Journalist Paul Brown would take to X to issue the following confusing statement: ‘So… some sources say 777 are telling them they will receive EPL approval to buy Everton this week. Other sources say no chance. And more than one source has been told Josh Wander wants to back out of the deal altogether. Go figure…’
When will Everton’s takeover with 777 Partners be confirmed?
Although Brown’s notion does little to clarify a situation that has been ongoing for months now, other reports have at least sought to offer a genuine suggestion as to when, and if, the takeover will go through.
One noted that confirmation from the Premier League could come before the 22nd of November, suggesting they will have success in their bid and therefore allowing them into power just in time to hopefully flex their financial muscle in the January transfer window.
After all, with a combined fortune of $12bn (£9.63bn), and given Everton have posted a transfer profit in all of the last three seasons, there would surely now be some wiggle room to bolster the squad.
And yet, it could even be argued that Sean Dyche’s side is one without any immediate need for improvements, given how imperious their current form is.

A run of nine wins from their last 13 in all competitions has seen them rise from the foot of the table to four points clear of the drop.
Should they maintain their winning run, there will be little chance of another relegation dogfight this campaign. At last.
