Everton told of ‘highly significant’ update on 22-year-old January target

Everton look unlikely to sign Crysencio Summerville in the January transfer window.

That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has claimed that the Leeds United winger ‘really likes’ the club and is very settled.

Crysencio Summerville was one of a number of Leeds players that were heavily linked with the exit door following their relegation to the Championship.

After netting four goals in the top flight, the Dutchman attracted interest from the likes of Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley.

The Toffees desperately needed to bolster their attack after an underwhelming 22/23 campaign, while they had also looked at Wilfried Gnonto. They eventually ended up signing Jack Harrison on loan, but could potentially look to one of his teammates in January too.

However, Jacobs has now suggested that any interest party may struggle to lure Summerville away from Elland Road as he has a ‘very strong’ relationship with Daniel Farke and was actually happy to stay at the club at the end of last season.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said: “A January exit is by no means guaranteed because he is integral to Leeds at the moment. Naturally, there’s going to be interest, as there was over the summer. Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley, for example, have all looked at the player.

“But it’s a very different situation to Wilfried Gnonto, who ended up staying but tried to force his way out of the club and then eventually apologised to Daniel Farke. Angus Kinnear, Leeds’ chief executive, played a big role in smoothing that situation over.

“With Summerville, he was a model professional and has a very strong relationship with Farke. In many ways, it was the player himself that wanted to stay at Leeds last summer, rather than drive an exit.

“That is highly significant in all of this because Summerville really likes Leeds and is settled at Leeds. He felt, over the summer, that Leeds was the best place for him to be, which means that Leeds have got a bit more control over this one than with Gnonto.”

Crysencio Summerville would be a very good option to challenge Dwight McNeil on that left side, having already bagged six goals and four assists in only eleven appearances for Leeds United this season.

Would Crysencio Summerville join Everton?

The 22-year-old may prove to be a cheaper alternative to Wilfried Gnonto, who has actually failed to make an impact this time round.

However, the Whites now look like they have a very good chance at winning promotion back to the Premier League, and Summerville’s commitment to the club seems likely to keep him there.

If the winger is happy in Yorkshire and Leeds want to keep hold of him, then Everton would surely have to pay big money to bring him to Goodison Park.

The Toffees may have to look elsewhere if they still want to bring in new attackers, but their pursuit is certainly not quite as pivotal as it was in the summer.
