Everton’s interest in Arsenal teenager clearly led by Friedkin Group, not David Moyes

Everton’s American owners seem to have a different vision for the club compared to David Moyes.

The Friedkin Group want to bring in young talent and drive down the average age of the squad, and they did that to some degree last summer.

In came Tyler Dibling, Adam Aznou, Carlos Alcaraz and Merlin Rohl – all players aged 23 or younger.

Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔

The Friedkins want Everton to deploy a similar model to Borussia Dortmund, who are well-renowned for developing some of the best young players in the world before moving them on for substantial fees.

However, Moyes has his own ideas and has barely given any of the younger players any game time at all.

So, it’s quite clear that the latest link to an Arsenal teenager isn’t coming from the Scotsman.

Everton interested in Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are ‘closely monitoring’ Arsenal playmaker Ethan Nwaneri ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nwaneri spent the last six months on loan at French giants Marseille, and it has been reported that he could be on the move again.

The Toffees have positioned themselves in the race to sign the 19-year-old, along with Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Como.

However, the deal seems so unlikely, as it’s hard to imagine Moyes greenlighting the signing, given how much he values experience.

Dibling, who arrived in a £40m deal from Southampton last summer, has only started four league games all season, so Nwaneri probably wouldn’t entertain a move to Moyes’ side anyway.

Whilst the Scotsman is at the club, the Friedkins can forget the idea of recruiting promising young players, as they won’t get a chance under the Everton boss.

Already, there is talk that Dibling could head out on loan, which is pretty remarkable given he was one of the most sought-after young players in the country this time last year.
