Everton’s most successful managers in the Premier League era – ranked by win rate

Everton have had 15 permanent managers since the Premier League began in 1992.

That’s a pretty high turnover, especially since David Moyes was in charge from 2002 to 2013 before he left for Manchester United.

Moyes is now back at Everton for a second spell after replacing the sacked Sean Dyche at the start of 2025.

Who would you like to see eventually replace David Moyes at Everton?

“I certainly won’t be here for what I did before (over 11 years). I will just take it as it goes, we have done a good job here in getting us safe because that was a problem that the club could have been relegated.

“I’ll take the next two years and see how we go. I have a couple of years left.”

The Scotsman is enjoying another successful tenure back on Merseyside and is among the top five most successful managers in the club’s Premier League history.

Here are the top five managers ranked by win rate.

Everton’s most successful managers in the Premier League era

Carlo Ancelotti is actually the most successful Everton manager since the Premier League began 23 years ago.

The former Real Madrid has the best win percentage at 46.3%, as he won 31 of his 67 games in charge between December 2019 and May 2021.

Roberto Martinez closely follows Ancelotti, followed by Ronald Koeman, Moyes and perhaps most surprisingly, Marco Silva.

Silva was sacked after just 18 months in charge and left the Toffees in the relegation zone, but evidently had a decent record before the results swung towards the end.

David Moyes could become Everton’s most successful manager this century

Moyes is well-placed to become Everton’s most successful manager this century, as he’s closing in on Ancelotti.

Moyes wants to return the Toffees to Europe this season, so if he is to achieve that feat, he’ll likely increase in win rate beyond 50%.

The Scotsman only has 18 months left on his contract, so the next six months will actually be quite pivotal for his career on Merseyside.

The Friedkin’s will more than likely offer him a new deal if the Toffees manage to finish in the top 10, any less than that and it seems unlikely.

A telling second half of the season awaits.
