Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has spoken exclusively with Everton News about The Toffees January plans.

Everton will be hoping for a few things to happen in January which could include some incoming. This is something Kieran Maguire thinks is possible despite the recent points deduction.

Maguire believes that Everton will have a little wriggle room come January after they’ve cleared a heft chunk on the wage bill and sanctioned a couple of big money sales in recent memory.

However, there is one issue that they’ve been unable to solve thus far and will be hoping to do so in January and that is Dele Alli and his position at the club which has for a long time been under scrutiny.

Signed in January of 2022 for free, Alli has been an instant regret for those at Goodison Park and a season-long loan to Besiktas only saw him return this past summer and has been unused this season by Sean Dyche.

Kieran Maguire on what Everton will want to solve in January

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire spoke exclusively with us about Everton’s situation ahead of January and he mentioned one thing Everton will want to fix.

“I think they’d like to resolve the Dele Alli issue for example but when it comes to football you’ve got to be looking at is there any way of getting new players out either on loan on sale and that free’s up more of the budget.”

Maguire mentioned the departures of several players which has already happened and has helped Everton fix the wage structure, but Alli is the big one and he will be next on the list.

How much is Dele Alli earning at Everton?

The reason that those behind the scenes and responsible for keeping Everton’s financials in check will be desperate to see the back of Alli is simple.

He is currently earning £100k-a-week according to Capology, which is a ludicrous amount for a player who has been so poor and featured so little since joining the club.

Alli’s contract expires in June 2024 however Everton will be hoping to see him off earlier than that given the money they could save would be put to good use in January.
