This summer has all the hallmarks of being a truly transformative one for Everton, who have turned the narrative completely of what was initially expected.

After all, with such a huge gaping financial hole and PSR looming, combined with all the young, sought-after and sellable assets they boasted, it seemed like a recipe for disaster.

Last season marked one of relative safety given where they finished in the Premier League, but the coming one was not to be so simple should they be forced into a fire sale.

However, thus far they have stood firm, and according to Fabrizio Romano could shockingly now be set to add a fourth new signing to their roster already this summer.

Fabrizio Romano offers Everton update on Jaden Philogene

Taking to X late last night, the Italian transfer journalist, who has become the go-to name in recent years for a club’s latest incomings and outgoings rumours, offered an update on Everton.

Already having been busy with the Toffees, revealing deals for Tim Iroegbunam, Jack Harrison and more recently Iliman Ndiaye, this could be his latest conquest, and the most exciting of them all.

Especially given Barcelona’s interest in the winger in question, which has not turned his head away from Premier League attention.

Romano writes: ‘EXCL: Jaden Philogene’s move to Barcelona looks now complicated and unlikely as he’s giving priority to Premier League move.

‘Understand three clubs have sent him proposals: Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Everton. Decision expected soon.’

Everton have wanted Jaden Philogene for some time now, with his £17m price tag proving a stumbling block.

Jaden Philogene has exactly what Everton are missing

Although Ndiaye is sure to bring it too, Sean Dyche still lacks a certain element of magic within his squad.

After all, for all their upsides, neither Harrison nor Dwight McNeil could be described as match-winners, capable of doing the impossible to claim victory for their teams.

Meanwhile, their new Senegalese striker did so on numerous occasions for Sheffield United, and Philogene was particularly important for Hull City in their play-off conquest last season.

The tricky winger scored 12 and assisted a further six in the Championship, proving he boasts end product to go with his sorcery, and this 22-year-old is exactly the kind of player Goodison Park has been without for so long.

In what will be their final campaign in this stadium, fans deserve to be entertained. Dyche must do all he can to bring this veritable entertainer to Merseyside.
