Former Everton attacker Steven Naismith has been tipped to become the new Scotland manager following Steve Clarke’s departure.
Clarke recently resigned from his role after Scotland crashed out of the World Cup group stages last month.
David Moyes has emerged as a frontrunner for the job, but the Everton boss is expected to see out the remaining year of his contract.
Now Hackney is confirmed, who should Everton be bringing in next? 💰
Time to take our foot off the brake pedal in the market…
Now, Steven Naismith, who played over a century of games for the Toffees, is being linked with the vacancy.

Sean Dyche tips Steven Naismith to become Scotland manager
Speaking on talkSPORT, Dyche reckons Naismith could step up from his assistant role at Scotland and become the head coach.
“I’ll tell you who’s an outsider for it, he’s managed, players respect him, he’s hungry,” the 55-year-old explained.
“It’s a bit off the bat but Steven Naismith, and he’s the assistant to Steve.
“The Welsh have done it before by giving someone an opportunity role, handing it to the former players, and then usually at some point they will move on.”

Naismith has been Clarke’s number two since August 2025, so he’s still pretty inexperienced in international football.
The 39-year-old was manager of Hearts prior to that but was sacked in September 2024 after a run of eight consecutive defeats.
The Scottish FA will no doubt consider him, but supporters would quite rightly argue that it’s far too soon to take that level of responsibility so early on in his coaching career.
Naismith should continue to learn as an assistant before perhaps reconsidering ahead of the next World Cup in 2030.
Or, he could benefit from dropping down to League One and showing his ability as a number one again.
