Everton manager David Moyes is being linked with the Scotland job.
Steve Clarke has left his position as Scotland manager following their exit from the 2026 World Cup in America.
What would you be doing with Nathan Patterson this summer if you were Angus Kinnear? 👋
Surely the writing is on the wall now?
Already, David Moyes is emerging as the frontrunner for the Scotland job ahead of the EURO 2028 qualification campaign.
That said, former Scotland international Kris Boyd has now reacted to the rumour, and he’s absolutely spot on in his assessment.

Kris Boyd rules out David Moyes leaving Everton for Scotland
Speaking to Sky Sports, Boyd has ruled out the possibility of Moyes leaving Everton for Scotland.
“You hear and see people like David Moyes and Ange mentioned,” the 18-cap international explained.
“I don’t think we’re daft enough to think the Premier League isn’t paying high wages. Moyes is still under contract there.
“I think in the future David Moyes will be a Scotland manager, but right now he’s the manager of Everton Football Club and will be on a big salary. The SFA won’t be able to compete with that.”
Moyes outers… is there anything he can do to change your mind? 🤔
Boyd makes a great point; the SFA probably don’t have the finances to get Moyes out of Everton, and it’d be unlikely for the 63-year-old to leave before the end of a project, too.
However, Moyes could complete the final year of his contract and perhaps join in 2027 when he’s available.
The Friedkin Group seem to be waiting to see how he gets on next year before deciding whether to renew his deal.
After a 13th-place finish, you would imagine Moyes needs to guide Everton to a top-half finish for him to keep his job.
Anything less than that and it’s very likely a new manager is brought in, with some fans eyeing up Kieran McKenna after his Ipswich Town departure.
A very telling year lies ahead for the club.
