Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover remains a subject of huge interest around Goodison Park, even if the noise surrounding it has died off somewhat.
After all, it is an outcome that could completely revolutionise the club after so many years of torment, ending Farhad Moshiri’s spell as Everton owner and ushering in an era of newfound prosperity.
Financial security will be paramount for the American billionaire, and thanks to Kevin Thelwell, he will walk into a far more stable environment than he would have done a few years ago.
He can take lessons from this progression, learning the path to follow, whilst also being shown what not to do by a rival takeover suitor.
John Textor comments to impact Dan Friedkin’s Everton plans
The latest on how the Friedkin Group plans to attack their Everton ownership comes courtesy of iNews, who write that their strategy will actually be informed by the failures of a previous bidder, John Textor.
Within the report, it states: ‘Nobody from the Friedkin Group or close to it is giving any indication of what changes or plans they have for Everton’s footballing department, which is probably the right approach given previous bidder John Textor’s ill-advised and premature comments about Dyche’s future.

‘The feeling is that while there are important games to play he should be left to get on with it. Ditto Kevin Thelwell, the club’s highly-rated director of football, who continues to restructure and improve behind-the-scenes operations and recently gave the green light to the appointment of Nathan Fisher in a key role as head of emerging talent.
‘But it feels highly unlikely with the team in decent form and pulling away from the relegation zone that there will be any changes on that front until the end of the season at the earliest.’
What did John Textor say about Everton?
Admittedly, most of what Textor actually said about Everton was not inflammatory or in poor taste.
It was just somewhat overexuberant, given just how far away from striking a deal he actually was.

After all, the American still owned a huge stake in Crystal Palace, with Premier League rules preventing him from buying the Toffees whilst still invested in a rival of theirs.
Textor did praise Everton relentlessly though, with his comments about the benefits of buying them arguably sparking such mass interest after 777 Partners were thought to be the only suitors for so long.
However, rather questionably, Textor outlined his long-term strategy with Everton as well, a club he had no real chance of actually buying.
It was this delusion, and the hugely public forum in which he did it, which Dan Friedkin must learn from and seek to avoid.
