“Carlo, in terms of just keeping the peace, man management, and winning with him,” Bale said on the Stick to Football podcast.

“It was like he was still a player. He had that relationship where you could still be a player, but he would have that respect where there was a line and you knew also that if you didn’t train well, he would hammer you.
“As much as he was your best mate, you knew there was that switch where you were like: I can’t cross that line.”
The report from 2020 suggested that Ancelotti was limiting the capability of his Everton players by playing such a direct style of football.
Ancelotti could be set for an Everton reunion, with his Brazil side rumoured to potentially be set for a friendly at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
However, Bale’s comments suggest that Ancelotti’s door always remained open when at Madrid, with Everton players surely able to communicate this with the manager.
Even if there were concerns over the style of play at Goodison Park, Bale has waxed lyrical about Ancelotti’s man management style, that would quash any concerns behind the scenes with his players.
