Gary Neville is tipping Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to secure the Golden Glove award at this summer’s World Cup.

England have now played both of their friendly games ahead of Wednesday’s opener against Croatia.

Pickford was slammed by the English media earlier this week despite keeping a clean sheet against Costa Rica in Orlando.

Which Everton player are you expecting to have the best World Cup? 🏆

Despite this, Pickford will be starting for Thomas Tuchel next week, with Neville expecting the Everton hero to bag himself one of the individual awards this summer.

Gary Neville backs Everton’s Jordan Pickford for World Cup award

Pickford is desperate to lift a trophy with England and admitted he’d even prefer it over a club award with Everton.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Neville has shared his predictions for this summer’s World Cup.

“The Golden Glove is going to be won by Pickford. I don’t know why I’ve said that,” said Neville.

Despite the slightly backhanded compliment, Neville did not pick Everton to reach the final of the tournament.

At the age of 32, this may be Pickford’s best opportunity to finally get his hands on a trophy with England having come so close over recent years.

Neville is now a huge fan of Pickford, having admitted he was previously unsure on the Everton goalkeeper and his erratic behaviour.

Pickford has now firmly nailed down the spot between the sticks for the Three Lions.

Despite the managerial change at the start of the year, Tuchel has not looked past Pickford, who is playing in his third World Cup for England.

Neville Southall has not been Pickford’s biggest fan on Merseyside, but what he has done for his country is hard to deny.

If Everton are to have any success this summer, then they are going to require Pickford to maintain his usual standards.
