It has been a truly dismal start to the 2024/25 campaign for Everton who suffered another heavy defeat on Saturday.

Sean Dyche‘s side were humiliated again in their trip to north London where Tottenham Hotspur had the game wrapped up within 25 minutes.

The Toffees now sit rock bottom of the Premier League table having conceded seven goals in their opening two games.

But there is still just less than a week for Everton to potentially add some further reinforcement to their side in the transfer market.

It has been claimed Everton could still bring in a couple of new faces with the Toffees working on some additions behind the scenes.

However, Gary Neville has now shared his concerns about the Blues’ trajectory following another dismal start to a Premier League campaign.

Gary Neville left worried after Everton’s dreadful start to the season

The loss to Tottenham saw the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin vent his frustrations with his teammates after failing to create any opportunities for the striker.

It really was an afternoon to forget for the Toffees but that was also the case last weekend and Everton failed to bounce back in any fashion.

With no points from their opening two games, Neville has slammed Everton as a ‘weird’ club but thinks they could pull themselves out of it.

Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, the Sky Sports pundit has voiced his concerns for what he has seen from Everton so far.

“Yeah, last week, they get get pumped by Brighton. Today, they get pumped at Tottenham. And I’m not surprised about today, a little bit more surprised about last week, but they’re a weird bunch, Everton,” he said.

“I mean, they could do this for like, two, three months, and then they could end up, you know, Sean Dyche, sort of last day. They’ve done it for the last few years, they’ve been sort of riding their luck haven’t they, against relegation and they’re going to be down there again, I would think after a worrying first week.”

Everton need more signings before the transfer window shuts

There is still time for Everton to add some further quality to their side but there may be questions as to whether that is possible financially.

Dyche has admitted the Toffees are going to struggle to find the money to dive back into the market to add any additions players.

However, Everton have been strongly linked with a potential move for Newcastle United’ Kieran Trippier with a new right-back of great significance.

But it may well be a case of the Toffees having to wait until January where they will be hoping their takeover situation has finally been resolved with John Textor being granted exclusivity in his bid to buy Everton.
