Grading all Everton’s 2025/26 signings as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall tops the class

Everton’s season ended in rather pitiful fashion in the end.

The Toffees came 13th after all was said and done, and fans are very frustrated by the seven-game winless run David Moyes oversaw at the end.

It meant that Everton finished just one point better off than they did last season.

Everton now need a big summer if they are to progress and certainly, the recruitment will need to be better than it was in 2025/26.

Looking at the business Everton did, there were actually only a handful of decent signings made by the club.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – B+

Everton forked out nearly £30 million to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, which raised eyebrows as he’d only had one season there and not played much in the Premier League.

However, Dewsbury-Hall quickly set about making a mockery of that fee, chipping in with goals and assists regularly.

He picked up a hamstring injury in December which forced him to miss six Premier League games, with Everton having mixed fortunes during his absence.

When he came back, he quickly got back on track.

Dewsbury-Hall had a poor end to the season which stops the grade from being any higher. But he still provided eight goals and six assists in 31 Premier League appearances, and he has been invaluable for his threat and also his running.

Jack Grealish – B-

Grealish’s move to Everton was a big coup.

The winger came in on loan after struggling for minutes at Manchester City, and Grealish was an instant hit – winning Premier League Player of the Month for August.

It was clear he was going to be a creative force for Everton.

But sadly his season was ended early when he picked up a foot injury – for which he required surgery – in January.

Who knows if Everton’s season could have ended differently had that never happened.

Tyler Dibling – F

Unfortunately, the Tyler Dibling signing has to go down as an F. But this is not the player’s fault.

Everton spent a lot of time pursuing Dibling in the summer and eventually won the race, paying Southampton around £40 million to sign him.

There was genuine excitement for one of the top young players in England arriving at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But Dibling’s time at Everton has been disastrous so far.

He played just 350 minutes in the Premier League across 14 mainly substitute appearances, with Moyes reluctant to use him throughout the campaign, as though he didn’t trust him. He did not score or assist.

We don’t yet really know the ins and outs of why Dibling featured so little. Moyes has merely suggested he needed to show more.

But given the struggles of the team and the lack of rotation towards the end, Dibling’s situation is highly embarrassing for the club given the cost.

Mark Travers – C

He’s only played twice for Everton since signing, with both those appearances coming in the Carabao Cup. He kept a clean sheet against Mansfield Town.

It was always going to be very unlikely he’d displace Jordan Pickford and that’s proven to be the case. Perhaps he can be credited with pushing the England number one to a decent standard though.

Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔

Tom King – N/A

Has not played a single minute since signing.

Merlin Rohl – C

Merlin Rohl had a peculiar first season at Everton.

The German arrived on loan last summer, with Everton negotiating an option to buy that would turn into an obligation if the club stayed up.

He struggled for minutes throughout the campaign but got a show of faith from Moyes at the end to the tune of four straight starts – and he caught the eye.

His display against Manchester City was excellent, and his earlier performance against Aston Villa suggests there’s a talented player here.

He needs to kick on next season. But Moyes has admitted he’s still working out Rohl’s best position, so hopefully that won’t prove prohibitive.

Adam Aznou – F

Like Dibling, Adam Aznou’s time at Everton has been a major disappointment. But again, it’s not really his fault.

The young full-back arrived from Bayern Munich with fans excited to see someone potentially challenge Vitalii Mykolenko.

But Aznou made just one appearance for Everton in 2025/26, which came as a late substitute against Sunderland in the FA Cup. He made an immediate impact, winning a penalty which was scored by James Garner to take the game to extra-time. He never played another minute after that.

He cost nowhere near as much as Dibling, but Aznou also clearly never earned the trust of Moyes.

It’d be no surprise to see him move on this summer, which would be a major shame.

Thierno Barry – C-

Thierno Barry came in for a lot of criticism throughout the 2025/26 season.

The striker came in for big money from Villarreal, so naturally there have been high expectations with Everton fans having longed for a prolific goalscorer for some time now.

Barry gave some really poor performances in his first season. He was bashed about by centre-backs at times and made life too easy for some of them.

His languid style also prompted criticism.

But ultimately Barry did score eight Premier League goals in his first term which isn’t horrendous for a young player in his first season in England.

Undoubtedly he is very raw, but Everton are said to believe in his potential and hopefully we’ll see more consistency from him next term. It would also help his cause greatly if he took a leaf out of Beto’s book when it comes to things like work-rate and mentality.

Tyrique George – C

Tyrique George was Everton’s only signing in January, arriving on loan from Chelsea.

He was effectively the replacement for the injured Jack Grealish.

George was seen as one of the best youngsters at Chelsea and there was excitement from Everton fans when he moved.

But just like Aznou and Dibling, George didn’t feature as much as he would have liked under Moyes.

He made 11 appearances in total and started just one Premier League game.

The strange thing was, though, that George actually did really well coming on in several games, and he deserved to play much more.

It remains to be seen if Everton will exercise the option to buy him, but perhaps that’s unlikely given his lack of involvement.
