Everton fans have been nervously waiting for updates on Jack Grealish, and Fabrizio Romano has today offered a worrying update.

Everton informed fans last night that Grealish had picked up a foot injury, but stopped short of saying how long he could be out for.

The club said Grealish was to see a specialist, and that he was under the care of the Everton medical team.

Who would you play at left wing in place of the injured Jack Grealish? 🤔

The winger is reportedly facing THREE months out – do Everton need to sign a replacement?

There had been some suggestions that the injury was serious though, and that it would be a case of months and not weeks.

Now, there is a claim about Grealish’s lay-off from top journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Jack Grealish set for three months out with injury

It’s bad news regarding Grealish.

Some had feared the worst after Everton dropped their update last night, as that’s not something that is all that common.

In the last hour Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Grealish, and he is set to be out for a few months.

He said: “Understand Jack Grealish will be out for 3 months with stress fracture in his foot. 12 weeks out for Everton star as tests made today confirm long break and major blow for #EFC.”

It is a major blow for David Moyes, with Grealish having been one of Everton’s biggest creative sparks this season.

The Scot will now have to work out who is best placed to cover for him, and also if he needs to dip into the transfer market to sign some cover.

Grealish injury could complicate Everton permanent transfer

So Grealish will now miss most of the rest of the season for Everton.

It is terrible news, and there could also now be ramifications in terms of Grealish joining Everton permanently.

It remains to be seen whether the club will seek to pursue this, based on what he has shown in an Everton shirt so far.

Certainly, that option to buy for £50 million is now looking very unlikely.

Surely, in light of the injury news, Everton would look to renegotiate with Manchester City if they did want to sign him permanently.
